I have found that for agreek mortgage you need 2 years payslips and 6 months personal bank statements and that you must be able to afford the mortgage without renting it out if you were going to rent it as rental income will not be taken into account and also that the most you can usually borrow is 80% of the property purchase. I soon hope to become a greek residnent living in corfu however I am going to rent for around a year as I want to make sure we have made the right move before purchasing somewhere.

I shall live in the purchased house and would be working as would my husband, but after a long time of scouring the internet I cannot find how greek mortgages are calculated I am looking for things like how much you can borrow on wot wage (like in the UK we can borrow something like 5.5 times or something like that) and in the UK we also use the credit scoring system to see if you are able to get a mortgage, do the greeks use t

  1. My ex boyfriend was Greek and so I know how hard it is to get a Greek mortgage.  Quite a few Greeks themselves struggle and so have to save up cash in order to buy land and then start building.  That is why you see so many half built hones in Greece.  They build the ground floor and then move in.  once they have enough money together they build the second floor and so on.

Sorry, I have probably not been very helpful.  Good luck x
