Greek teenager Kostas Fortounis ties knots with FC Kaiserslautern – Bundesliga news
Greek teenager, Kostas Fortounis, has tied knots with the Bundesliga outfit, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, for the upcoming 2011/12 season. The midfielder was reportedly being monitored by the Red Devils since the last season’s January transfer window. The deal
has now been confirmed which would certainly boost Kaiserslautern’s midfield and add some extra venom to their method of play.
Both parties agreed upon a four-year contract meaning that Fortounis will be eligible to play for the club until 2015, though the transfer amount has not been disclosed.
The 18-year-old seemed ecstatic at the new deal and is already looking forward to feature anytime during the next season. The player, though, admitted that it would require herculean efforts from him to cement a place in the line-up but was determined to
justify his selection sooner than later.
He showed gratitude towards Die roten Teufel officials who entrusted him with the midfield role at Fritz-Walter-Stadion. At the same time, he was all praise for the Asteras Tripolis F.C officials for providing him with enough first team opportunities during
his one-year stay at the club. The player was upbeat ahead of his German experience as it would offer him an opportunity to win silverware while playing in one of the top European leagues.
Kaiserslautern CEO, Stefan k***z, added, "Konstantinos Fortounis is a very talented attacking player with great potential, and we hope to bring him along further. We're confident that he will achieve the next stage in his development as a player working
under head coach Marco Kurz. On top of that, we're delighted that he was fully committed to joining FCK, despite the interest of other Bundesliga clubs."
The Greek U-21 international joined Asteras Tripolis in 2010 and made 24 league appearances, netting a solitary goal during the process. Previously he represented another Greek outfit, AO Trikala, from 2008 to 2010 and managed 30 league appearances while
