Greeleys Love to show progress in Thirskracecourse.net Nursery at Thirsk
Greeleys Love is yet to enjoy the big party. The 2-year-old has not shown a winning performance so far, but took a step in the right direction last time. Showing plenty of improvement, Kevin Ryan’s charge managed to seize the fifth place at York.
He has a great chance of taking a better start from the first stall and if he succeeds in doing so, he will be able to get off the mark in the Thirskracecourse.net Nursery, taking place at Thirsk on Tuesday, September 18, 2012.
Greeleys Love made his debut at Ayr in July. In the class 4 Bet toteplacepot Text Tote To 89660 EBF Maiden Stakes, he was slowly into stride in the hands of Phillip Makin.
Despite a bit of mess in the middle, the 14-1 chance kept running well until the finishing line. But he found a couple of horses too strong and as a result, finished third on the table.
The son of Mr Greeley did not make an impression the following month. Ayr’s Champagne G.H. Mumm Cuvee R. Lalou/E.B.F. Maiden Stakes saw him finishing ninth behind Bee Brave, who was a shocking winner.
After such an awful loss, he was not expected to be impressive last time. But the novice showed a lot of improvement in the Sky Bet Mobile Convivial Maiden Stakes. Owned by Crone Stud Farms Ltd, the colt is likely to continue his progress, and secure a notable place on his Thirsk debut.
Including Greeleys Love, there are 16 horses in the crew. On good to firm, they will compete for a cash prize worth £2,727. The officials are due to start the proceedings at 15:10 GMT.
This is slightly easier company for Dr Phibes, but still Alan Swinbank’s trainee cannot be trusted blindly. Makinson Lane makes limited appeal from stall 12.
On the other hand, Loki’s Strike will be a major player if building on his recent effort. The Mrs K. Burke-trained looked a lot better in blinkers last week, when he finished second at Redcar.
The 2-year-old has gained good momentum following a wonderful act last time. So, he looks to be the biggest threat to Greeleys Love. Good luck to all the horses.
