Green Bay Packers' Brad Jones out for the season
The Green Bay Packers must be wondering what more could possibly go wrong as they have lost another defensive player, linebacker Brad Jones, to a season ending injury.
Only days after Packers head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed the loss of defensive end Mike Neal, and linebacker Brady Poppinga, it's also been announced that Jones' injured shoulder will require surgery.
Jones injured himself in the Packers 28-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings on the tackle that left two fractures in Brett Favre's reconstructed ankle – putting the 41-year-old's consecutive game streak
in jeopardy.
"I definitely feel like I played well," Jones said of his season leading up to the injury. "When you're out there, you've got to go, you know? The team needs you, you go. Yeah, I thought I played well."
Jones had made five starts and recorded 27 tackles for the Packers this season.
The Green Bay Packers currently have 10 players on injured reserve and have already lost four starters for the entire season: tight end Jermichael Finley, running back Ryan Grant, linebacker Nick Barnett,
and safety Morgan Burnett.
McCarthy would have been happy to see defensive backs Al Harris and Atari Bigby return to practice last week but both remain on the physically unable to perform list.
The Packers recently got a boost from the return of linebacker Clay Matthews who took part in the team's 28-24 win over the Vikings last Sunday, and is just doing his best to roll with the punches.
"It's tough. You'd like to have someone in there who you're going into battle with each and every week and you become comfortable with," he said. "But it seems like we're switching people in and out, myself
included. It's tough, but it's part of the game. It's what we sign up for."
