Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers admits he has not played at same level - NFL News
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not one to shy away from admitting that he has not been playing at the same level he displayed in 2011 which bagged him the MVP award.
The quarterback has struggled to perform at the same level this year getting sacked 21 times the second highest sacks on any National Football League (NFL) quarterback.
He also has thrown four interceptions this season in the first five games which is unprecedented compared to the just six interceptions he threw in the entire season last year.
The Packers offence too has not helped Rodgers with the quarterback getting little protection from his offensive line but the quarterback also admits that he has been holding onto the ball too long.
Speaking to WAUK-AM in Milwaukee in his own radio show Rodgers admitted that he has not performed to his own high standards.
He said:
"I haven't played as well as the expectations are, obviously. The ones I put on myself, I like to think are as high or higher than the ones people outside put on me. It's interesting to look at the stats for what they are and think I'm not playing my best
football right now.”
Adding further he said:
"I set the bar high and I expect to play at a higher level. Been making just some mistakes I'm not used to making. Throwing the ball to the other team, I've done that four times already. My solemn promise is I'm going to work every day to get better. I'm
going to clean up some of the things I'm not doing as well as I should.”
The Packers will be hoping that Rodgers regains his previous form soon and gets the team’s season back on track.
Coach Mike McCarthy though said that Rodgers is having a solid season and said that he has great faith in the quarterback’s ability to bounce back into form.
The Packers will face the Houston Texas on October 14 in week 6 and Rodgers will hope that he can improve his performance to get Green Bay back into winning form.
