Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers not worried about lack of running game - NFL News
The Green Bay Packers did not have a strong running game last year with the franchise ranking in at 27th overall in league on the rush.
With an average gain of just 97.4 yards on the rush, the Green Bay Packers did not give much preference to rushing and why would they when quarterback, Aaron Rodgers showed his brilliant talent with his accurate passing to lead the franchise to victory after victory.
Led by Rodgers, the Packers ended up as one of the most formidable offences in the league and finished the regular season with an impressive 15-1 regular season record.
This year too, the Packers will be heavily pass dependent and that is the thing that most analysts are worried about for Green Bay.
However, Rodgers does not seem too worried by the lack of a running game.
Speaking to the NFL Network on Thursday he said:
"Do we need to? I think this is a pass-happy league, so I think it's got to start with the pass with us."
Adding further he said:
"The run has to be good enough to keep them honest, but we're going to have to throw the football to win games.”
With a Most Valuable Player (MVP) quarterback in their roster, Green Bay will not be too worried if their rushing stats are not that good and will be happy to let Rodgers pass the opposition to death.
The quarterback is one of the best players in the league right now and using his talents with the pass is the primary method for the franchise to win.
Rodgers though said that the team may run the ball more this year but passing will remain as their primary mode of attack.
He said:
"We're going to have to run it probably a little bit more than we did last year. It starts with the passing game with us, and with most teams as well."
Once again this year Green Bay will be favourites to push for a Super Bowl spot and the team will be looking forward to getting over the disappointment of last season’s playoff divisional round game defeat to the New York Giants.
