Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant hopeful of new contract from franchise - NFL News
Green Bay Packers running back, Ryan Grant is currently without a contract as the franchise has still not offered him a new deal to keep him at the Lambeau Field for the long term.
Grant has been with the Packers for five years since being traded to the franchise by the New York Giants who picked him up as an undrafted free agent.
The running back had three good years playing for Green Bay but his 2010-11 campaign was cut short after a season ending injury.
Now with his return back to full fitness last year as he played in all 15 games of the Packers 2011-12 campaign including the playoffs the running back is still hoping to get signed back by the franchise.
According to ESPNMilwaukee.com, the running back seemed positive about his chances to return to the Lambeau Field in the new season.
“It’s definitely an option, and there’s definitely a good chance. Green Bay said that they want me back, and it’s just a matter of whether or not we can come to terms on something. I would love to come back. I think everyone knows that that’s my ideal situation.”
He went on to add.
“I think everybody knows that I’m a Packer at heart and I do want to stay. But that’s the business aspect of everything. I understand it, and I think both sides do. We’re just trying to move forward. And if we can work something out, that’d be awesome.”
Grant rushed for just 559-yards last season and scored two touchdowns out of 134 attempts.
The running back though has options open if the Packers do not provide a contract to him.
Grant has an offer from the New England Patriots who he had visited in April and on Thursday his agent also revealed that the Packers, National Football Conference (NFC) North division rivals, Detroit Lions are also interested and have made an offer for
the running back’s services.
Detroit will be a great option for the running back as the franchise has a lack of depth at the position while question marks are still raised on the fitness of running back, Jahvid Best.
