Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley looking for better 2012-13 season - NFL News
Green Bay Packers tight end, Jermichael Finley, has a lot of potential and in the 2011-12 season he showed that in flashes.
After signing a new two-year $ 14 million contract in February, the tight end is looking to light up Lambeau Field and not be a bit part player that he was last year.
To do that though, Finley has identified that he needs to have more fun on the field and think that he is back playing for his high school team.
Speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Finley said.
"It's all about letting loose and just playing my game. Go back to high school a little bit and have fun with it now. Leave the NFL for what it is ... Obviously, the NFL is paying us for what we do. You have to take it for what it is, man. I say, 'Go back
and have fun like I was in high school.' "
The tight end also said that last year the lack of a complete offseason resulted in him not being able to build up a good relationship with quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, and that lack of coordination led to him making some dropped catches during the regular
season.
"Having an off-season, having chemistry with your quarterback is a big key to success. I promise you."
He also went on to add that he has just one goal this year and he would do anything to achieve it.
"I want to be the best," Finley says. "Hands down."
The tight end made 55 receptions last season for a gain of 767 yards and scored eight-touchdowns.
This year though he is looking to put up much better numbers and is training hard to build up that coordination with Rodgers in his game.
Last year the Packers almost went unbeaten for the entire 2011-12 season after notching up victory after victory each week.
However, they ended up with a 15-1 record after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in week 14.
Green Bay underperformed in their first playoff game as well and were beaten comprehensively by the New York Giants who went on to lift the Super Bowl.
This year they will once again be favourites to challenge for the Super Bowl and Finley hopes to play a big part in their push.
