Green Bay Packers backup QB Graham Harrell confident in ability - NFL News
Green Bay Packers have one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Aaron Rodgers who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) last season.
However, what would happen if Rodgers for some reason missed out on a few games.
With Matt Flynn joining the Seattle Seahawks, the Packers do not have a lot of depth at the quarterback position with only rookie Graham Harrell to backup Rodgers.
Harrell has never taken a single snap in the National Football League (NFL) making Green Bay the only franchise in the league without an experienced backup for their starting quarterback.
However, the rookie feels that he can step up to the plate if he gets the chance and is highly confident in his ability to deliver when needed.
Speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Harrell said:
"Absolutely. As a quarterback, you better be confident in yourself and believe in yourself. I believe in myself. We have a great support staff and a great group of people in Green Bay. They get quarterbacks ready to play and train quarterbacks."
He also said that he has learnt from some of the best players and coaches in the NFL at Green Bay and would be ready to perform when asked to by the team.
He said:
"I've learned from some of the best in the business."
Adding further he said:
"The best way to learn is through experience and time, but with the staff we have in Green Bay and the quarterbacks we've had, I feel that when my number gets called I'll be ready."
Confidence is good but Harrell will have to perform during the Packers training camp to show that he will be able to perform for the franchise when needed.
Green Bay would likely move to sign up a veteran quarterback as backup should Harrell not deliver during training camp although the rookie seems confident that he can perform.
The Packers ended last year with a brilliant 15-1 regular season record and will be looking to deliver the same result or go even better this year.
Rodgers will be the key to their success but they will need a backup ready to step in should the situation calls for it.
