Green Bay Packers extend unbeaten run to nine games crushing Minnesota Vikings 45-7 – NFL Recap
Defending Super Bowl Champions Green Bay Packers extended their unbeaten run to nine games with a scintillating performance to crush division rivals Minnesota Vikings 45-7 at the Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers match winning performance and a solid Packers defence ensured victory with the Super Bowl champs remaining the only team in the National Football League with a perfect season.
"It's (our) best game, because of the margin of victory," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "And at the end of the day, it's about points."
Wide Receiver Randall Cobb started things off in the first period at 13:42 with a Punt Return, dodging the Vikings defenders Cobb covered 80 yards to score a brilliant touchdown. The Rookie receiver celebrated his touchdown with
the fans who were in full voice after his mesmerizing run. Cobb was ecstatic after the game saying
"I guess when the lights come on my tempo and my game speed goes up," Cobb said. "But I've got to get to where I'm doing it every game."
Greg Jennings doubled the Packers lead to 14-0 with five minutes to go in the first period collecting Aaron Rodgers pass in the middle of the park and covering 24 yards to finish off a fine play.
The Packers dominance continued into the second quarter with Rodgers again giving the Vikings a headache with his movement and passing. However the Vikings defence held on with the Packers settling for a 25 yard field goal from
Mason Crosby with 12 minutes to go before half time.
Aaron Rodgers picked off again in the third period showing a keen awareness of his teams positioning with a brilliant pass to Jordy Nelson on the right sideline. Nelson beat off the Vikings Cornerback Cedric Griffin to run free
towards the end zone covering 17 yards bringing the score up to 24-0.
The Packers defence was finally penetrated with 9 minutes to go in the third period as Adrian Peterson scored the touchdown with a 3 yard run after a brilliant passing move to peg back the score to 24-7. Vikings Quarter back Christian
Ponder harried throughout the encounter found Wide Receiver Percy Harvin who handed the ball to Peterson to score the Vikings only points.
John Kuhn made it 31-7 for the Packers with six minutes to go in the third quarter covering nine yards after collecting another brilliant Rodgers pass.
The game was put to bed in the fourth quarter with the score line getting embarrassing for the Vikings as Rodgers picked out Nelson again with 11 minutes left on the dial to score a 4 yard touchdown. Matt Flynn who came on Rodgers
with 10 minutes of game time left scored himself with a 3 yard run to make it 45-7 and completing a resounding victory for the Packers.
