If Brett still wanted to play, then why did he annouce his retirement in the first place? Brett is the main reason why this c**p started.

and Rodgers will do fine. He has a good team around him.

Upset, no.  Disappointed, yes.  I have no reason to believe that either Favre or the Packers set out to damage their relationship, but things are clearly beyond repair now.  It must have taken massive amounts of miscommunication to get to this point.  Favre should have never retired prematurely and the Packers should never have assumed that retirement was Favre's final decision.  After all, the one trait that distinguishes Brett from all of the other quarterbacks in the entire history of the NFL is his durability.  Year after year, game after game he has always been there when the whistle blew.  Why should this year be any different, especially since he showed last year that he clearly has the skill to play at a high level.

That said, I've always felt that Brett Favre is only the second best QB in Packers history - after Bart Starr.  The Packers are bigger than any one player, even one of Favre's caliber.  The day has always been coming when someone else would be the starting quarterback for Green Bay.  Unfortunately for everyone, that day came a year or two sooner than it had to.

The only winners are the "experts" that blew the whole thing out of proportion for the sake of a headline. ESPN might as well hire Nancy Grace. They don't think twice about ruining someones life as long as they get a story or get to hear themselves blab - blah blah blah.

Not upset with the team, it is a business, you need to go with what gives you the best chance for the next 5 or 10 years, not just the next season. As much as I liked having Favre here, he will not be playing (anywhere) 5 years from now, Rodgers will.

While it would be nice to know what Aaron Rogers has, I was around when Bart Starr retired and it was a gajillion years before Brett came.  I am old now and I don't have another Gajilliion years.

I think that the reasons behind all of the parties involved will never truly be known, so its really hard to be mad at someone/an organization when I don't have the whole story.  I love Brett Farve & have been a football fan since I was 4 & went to my first Packer game, but there has to be something that we don't know that is causing a lot of what is going on.
