Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett could be out for the season
After recently losing rookie safety Morgan Burnett for the entire season after tearing his ACL, the Green Bay Packers have now learned that they may be without another one of their starters on defence for the remainder of the season. The latest casualty
is inside linebacker Nick Barnett, who was injured in the Packers' 28-26 victory over the Detroit Lions last Sunday, October 3.
Barnett left last Sunday's game in the first half and returned to the sideline with a cast but didn't play, and initial reports were that x-rays came back negative. Barnett is in the process of seeking a second opinion on his wrist and should have an answer
by Friday, but the team is not expecting the news to be good and is already preparing for life without him.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy wasn't optimistic about the situation and mentioned on Wednesday, October 6, that Barnett being out of the lineup for an extended period of time was a 'definite possibility'.
Barnett is an eight-year veteran and has played his entire career with Green Bay. Before being injured last Sunday, Barnett had 19 tackles.
Barnett joins Brandon Chillar on Green Bay's list of injured linebackers. Chillar is also seeking a second opinion on his injured shoulder and stated to the
Green Bay Press-Gazette on Thursday: "We haven't been able to figure out what it looks like on the MRI, so the plan is to get a better MRI to get a real diagnosis of what I'm dealing with. I just need to get something conclusive."
The Green Bay Packers are 3-1 this season and tied for first in the NFC North with the Chicago Bears. They will head to Washington to take on Donovan McNabb and the Washington Redskins this Sunday at FedEx field.
