Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga’s injury is serious, says coach Mike McCarthy – NFL News
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has confirmed that offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga, who injured his hip during Week 9 game against Arizona Cardinals, has suffered a serious injury and that is why he has been moved to injured reserve.
Bulaga will miss the rest of the season. He has not commented about his injury.
According to the details present on the team’s website, McCarthy said of the player:
“A significant hip injury. A lot of conversation about the time line. His long-term health is at the forefront of these decisions.”
It is not confirmed yet whether Bulaga will go through a surgery or not. McCarthy is hopeful that Bulaga’s condition will be better in four weeks.
He added:
“You can’t deny what’s on the scan. This is in his best interest. We feel confident in his future.”
Bulaga was replaced by left guard T. J. Lang after his injury during the game and offensive lineman Evan Dietrich Smith took charge at left guard.
Talking about Lang’s performance, McCarthy said:
“With a full week of work, he’ll be ready to go. T.J. won’t keep us out of anything. We have a lot of confidence in T.J.”
Linebacker Vic So’oto, who was traded from Oakland Raiders in 2012, will replace Bulaga for the rest of the season.
Bulaga was drafted by Packers in first round of the 2010 National Football league (NFL) draft. He was the youngest player to start in a Super Bowl.
McCarthy is busy in managing the injured players in his team.
Linebacker Claw Matthews was out of the team during Week 9 game against Cardinals due to a hamstring injury.
Rookie linebacker Nick Perry was also moved to injured reserve due to his wrist injury.
McCarthy said about Perry’s injury:
“Nick Perry’s wrist is obviously a more severe injury than first anticipated. We went with the second opinion and felt this was the best with him.”
McCarthy will release more information about the injured players when this week's practice report comes out on Wednesday.
Packers will play their next game against Detroit Lions on Sunday, November 18.
