Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers expects quality run game – NFL News
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is expecting quality performance from running game.
On Wednesday, Rodgers shared his views related to running game during a press conference and said that the Packers need more production in this department.
He said:
"I think we can all just in honesty admit here that it's about the production."
He added:
"It's a nice thing to say it's about the quantity, not the quality. But who're we kidding here? It's about the production. It's a lot better when you hand off and you're kind of taking it to the backside on your keep-fake, and you look back and the guy's
still going not tackled.”
Talking about better rushers in the team, Rodgers gave credit to running backs Alex Green and James Stark, and said:
“I think Alex and James ran the ball really well. Obviously having a running touchdown over 20 yards, that hasn't happened in a while I think. That was a good thing for us.”
He is hopeful that everybody is going to give similar performance like Green and Stark in the upcoming games. This will help them a lot in winning more games.
Green has rushed 109 times for 360 yards and Stark has rushed 71 times for 255 yards and scored one touchdown.
Stark got a knee injury during Week 13 game against Minnesota Vikings and his status for next game is doubtful.
Meanwhile, running back Cedric Benson, who suffered from Lisfranc injury during Week 5 game against Indianapolis Colts, went through a surgery last week and ended his season after moving to injured reserve.
He rushed 71 times for 248 yards and scored a touchdown in the five games he played this season.
Recently, Packers have re-signed Ryan Grant to replace Stark. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by New York Giants, and then Packers signed him in 2007.
Overall, Grant has rushed 924 times for 4,016 yards and scored 25 touchdowns in his career. He seems to be a good choice to replace Stark.
