Green Bay Packers thrash Tennessee Titans by 55-7 – NFL Week 16 Recap
Green Bay Packers thrashed Tennessee Titans by 55-7 in Week 16 game on Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI.
It was an amazing performance from Packers which took them to their fourth straight win. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was in great form and played really well. He started the lead by rushing 6 yards towards the end zone, followed by a 20-yard
touchdown pass to wide receiver Randall Cobb and took the score to 14-0.
In the second quarter, Packers kicker Mason Crosby scored two field goals of 26 yards and 48 yards respectively, and took the lead to 20-0.
Packers running back DuJuan Harris rushed for 7 yards in the beginning of second quarter. Later, Rodgers threw 1-yard pass to wide receiver Greg Jennings and took the score to 34-0.
Rodgers threw a 12-yard pass to defensive tackle James Jones in the beginning of fourth quarter. Rodgers was quite satisfied with his performance.
He said:
"We've got to be playing like this heading into playoffs. It's nice to get a win like this kind of going way and now we've got a tough one into Minnesota next week."
He completed 27 of 38 passes for 342 yards and scored three touchdowns without any interception.
A few minutes later, Packers running back Ryan Grant rushed for 7 yards and at 06:25 he again rushed for 9 yards, leading with 55-0.
When 1 minute and 39 seconds were left in the game, Titans quarterback Jake Locker got the first and last chance to threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kenny Britt.
Titans head coach Mike Munchak considered it an embarrassing loss. He said:
“Thank God we have that (game next week) because I wouldn't want this to be our last game of the year."
According to the Associated Press, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said of his team’s performance:
"It was important for us to dominate the opponents late in the year. We have momentum going for us particularly what we've done over the last 10 weeks, so we wanted to take the next step as a football team and I felt we were able to accomplish
that today."
Packers have won 11 and lost four games in this season, and they are the leaders of National Football Conference (NFC) North.
On the other hand, Titans have won five and lost 10 games, and they are standing at 3rd position in American Football Conference (AFC) South.
Packers will end their season by playing next game against their divisional rivals Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 30.
Meanwhile, Titans will play against their division’s worst team Jacksonville Jaguars, who have won two and lost 13 games in the season.
