Green Bay Packers to face Detroit Lions in Week 14 – NFL Preview
Green Bay Packers are going to host their National Football Conference (NFC) North rivals Detroit Lions in Week 14 on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI.
The Packers are leading the division, while the Lions are standing at the bottom and have lost last four games. The Packers have lost one game out of last six.
In Week 11 game, Packers defeated Lions at their home ground, Ford Field, by 24-20.
Packers played last game against Minnesota Vikings and won by 23-14. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in a great form. His best performance in this season was against Houston Texans in Week 6 game, when he scored six touchdowns without any interception
and his quarterback rating was 95.8 with 64.9% pass completion.
Sharing his plans for the next four regular season games, Rodgers said:
"Everything's right in front of us. We've got to go win our home games and get a couple wins on the road."
Since Packers running backs, Cedric Benson and James Stark, are out for recovering from their foot and knee injuries, Packers have re-signed Ryan Grant to place him at running back.
Grant played with Packers from 2007 to 2011 before being traded to the Washington Redskins. Recently, he was released by the Redskins and Packers got the chance to fill the running back position with a veteran player who knows them very well.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said of Grant:
"Ryan has great history with us, can kind of step right in. I don't see him having any issues getting ready."
Lions played their last game against Indianapolis Colts. They were about to win the game, but for the late heroics from the Colts who took the game away from the Lions.
Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 27 of 46 passes for 313 yards and scored two touchdowns with an interception.
Talking about ending the regular season with better stats, Stafford said:
"It probably (means) more to the people who have been here 20 years than us. We just want to go in there and put a good game together and try to come out on top."
If we compare both teams’ quarterbacks, it is visible that Rodgers is performing better than Stafford in this season. Let’s see if there is any chance for Lions to gain a few more points at this stage.
