Green Card ?

ok, i been kinda looking around to try and see if i can find an answer, but honestly i dont know where to look lol -

anyways my hubby and me are fixing to move to germany cause he is being stationed there with the military, also germany is my country of citizenship, my question is how long can i stay out of the us before i loose my green card, or do i have to show his orders saying we are moving to germany and i will be good? i am not sure how this works and would greatly appreciate any help..

  1. With your husband working for the government it won't be a problem. However I would apply for a Re-Entry Permit (Form I-131). It allows green card holders to live and work outside of the United States for temporary reasons without an impact on your status. The form is on www.uscis.gov.


  2. There's no limit for you.  As long as your husband is overseas on military orders, and you are with him as a command sponsored dependent, you will have no trouble.
