I have re-entry permit so I am okay being outside of US but when I come back, I only have the expired Green Card. Will this cause a problem? What can I do?

  1. If your Reentry Permit is valid at the time of your return, it will not matter that your green card has expired.

If you have been absent for more than a year, and both the green card and the Reentry Permit are expired, the airline shouldn't even board you.

If they do permit you to board, you should encounter a problem with immigration at the time of your arrival if both the Reentry Permit and the green card are expired, and you have been outside the U.S. for more than a year.

  2. you should marry a gringo.
