Question:

Green Cleaning Product to remove moss off concrete driveway & foot path?

Hello

I was wondering if anyone knows or could recommend an environment friendly cleaning substance that would remove moss from footpaths and driveways. My mum is a pensioner and cant afford to get a proffesional to do the job. The Hardware store offers acid as a solution, and the water restrictions have stopped us from hiring a high pressured hose.

Can anyone please advise?

Cheers, be safe and peacefull

  1. White vinegar, lemon juice , water( equal parts) and 2 tbls of dawn dishwashing soap.    spray on  and leave for a cpl days.

make sure you want to do this because nothing will grown there for a long while

  2. Hydrogen Peroxide it's cheap and it does the job or vinegar might take a litlle longer with vinegar.

  3. Bleach and some good old fashioned elbow grease. Nothing is better than elbow grease....

  4. the best moss/algae killer is zero or roundup, which will kill the whole organism. vinegar/bleach etc will kill the surface layer only and then it will grow back again.

regardless of water restrictions you can still use a water blaster for removal of moss/algae as it is a health and safety matter. you can contact your local council and explain your problem and  they can issue a limited permit to you.

a local handyman would blast a driveway for minimal dollars.

  5. Clorox and water

  6. This is a recipe i got off e-bay for weed/moss  killer which works well:

    1 pound of salt

    1 gallon of malt vinegar

2 good squirts of dishwashing liquid

4 large tablespoons of lemon juice

1 garden sprayer or fine rose head watering can.

    DIRECTIONS:-

stir salt in just enough HOT water to dissolve salt. Add rest of ingredients after the salt dissolves ,or it will clog up your sprayer. This will kill any green thing it touches so protect grass and plants. Apply when no rain is due.

  7. spray with white vinegar, leave for a few hours and then scrape off
