  1. Seventh Generation is my favorite, and they are widely available.

  2. I'd love to share some options but I don't want to violate any "Community Guidelines" so e-mail me at hendricks.lc@gmail.com.  You may not only be able to help your office out but yourself.

    Linda

  3. Salt, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. If you want a commercial one, visit any of the major supermarkets, most now have a range of green products and some have their own supermarket branded goods.

  4. Like the others said, vinegar and bicarb soda. I also use eucalyptus oil for cleaning the loo. Green "products" are better than the usual stuff, but they are still unnecessary.

  5. I recommend white vinegar, baking soda, and cream of tartar.

  6. I would recommend Seventh Generation Cleaning Products.  They're fairly easy to find, and also economical, not to mention that they work great.  You can probably find it at your local grocery store, or order it online:

    http://www.seventhgen.com/

    Kim at: http://www.peaceful-organic-planet.com/g...

  7. You should try MEK, acetone, turpentine, grain alcohol, and borax.

Buy generic!  Do not support the name brands.

  8. Method at Target is great.  Also any cleaning products sold at stores like Trader joes, Wild Oats and Whole Foods usually are biodegradeable, safe for the environment and best of all, NOT ANIMAL TESTED!! as most regular brands such as windex, clorox, and 409  are.

  9. I assume, being a doctors office, you are probably limited for time to mix your own cleaning products. Store-bought brands, although a bit more expensive, are probably best suited to your situation.

Larger chain stores like Smart & Final and Target will carry brands which are not only earth-friendly, but relatively pocket-friendly, too. At Smart & Final, try products such as Simple Green, Fast Orange, or Pure Citrus (many of these products available in bulk sizes). At Target, you'll find an array cleaning products from makers like, Method and 7th Generation. Other popular brands, like Ecover, Dr. Bronner’s, and Earth Friendly Products are available at Whole Foods.

Don't forget to begin using recycled paper products in the office as well. Big box stores like Staples and Office Depot all carry a full array of recycled products at comfortable prices. You'll want to look for recycled envelopes, file folders, and printing paper, not to mention tissues, toilet paper, toilet seat covers and paper towels as well.

Start small... Set yourself up for sucess and take it one step at a time. Once you get started, it will get easier and easier with each action. And don't forget to share with your patients what you're doing. I bet you'll inspire someone else to go green, too.

  10. There is a natural pesticide derived from orange peels called...."[something] orange?"

I like supporting Method (often found at Target store, or in the supermarkets like Safeway).   They have cool designs on their bottles, and their formulas are supposed to be more natural and less toxic to the environment (at least that's how they market them).

  11. Murphy's Soap

    Simply Green

    Orange plus

Seventh Generation is expensive, and I used it when I was wealthy.

  12. I work in a small medical office as well, and we use Citrasolve for the floors and tables, Seventh Generation for toilets and all paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, tissues), and ECOS laundry detergent.  I order most of the stuff by the case from Real Goods.  We have been doing this for years and our floor polishing guy always raves about how our office is cleaner than any of the others he goes to.  There is also something called "Anti-Icky Poo"  that works great for removing lingering odors from bodily fluid accidents (most of my patients are 4 legged).

I agree that baking soda and vinegar would be ideal,  and I use it at home, but  at the office, there are times when we truly need to disinfect and remove some pretty gross messes.
