Green Destiny, now owned by Ramzan Kadyrov, to race his 2012 season debut in the Dubai World Cup Night
The nasty and notorious owner, Ramzan Kadyrov has resurfaced after nearly a month before his horse, Sweet Ducky last participated in a race at Woodbine. The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has now bought Green Destiny, who is being targeted as
a potential contestant for the Dubai World Cup.
He became the leader of Chechnya in 2007, and over the years has become a loathed ruler, charged with corruption, torture, murder and general violation of human rights.
His racing license was withdrawn by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission in October 2011, and two months prior to that, his request for a license to race in New York State was not issued.
Before the change of ownership and consequently the trainer, Green Destiny was trained by William Haggas last year.
The five-year-old bay gelding of Marju out of Mubkera, has raced seven times and amassed four victories during the previous season, in 2011.
Green Destiny won the Qipco Sponsors British Champions Series Suffolk Handicap at Newmarket on 30th April, 2011, while riding with Michael Hills, and downing the 11 to 2 favourite of the race, Proponent, for second.
On 9th July 2011, Green Destiny won the 52nd John Smith’s Cup at York on a track of nineteen contestants. This time he was paired with jockey Adam Beschizza.
When bagging his third win of the season, Green Destiny was entered as the 11 to 4 joint favourite in the Group 3 Sky Bet Moblie Strensall Stakes on 19th August, 2011, at York.
Green Destiny’s last and fourth win of the season was in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Arc Trial on 17th September, 2011, at Newbury. He was entered as a 2 to 1 favourite.
The Dubai World Cup night would be the debut race for the 2012 season for Green Destiny.
"We will have to see how we go with him once he finishes quarantine but we may well look at the third round of the Maktoum Challenge on Super Saturday for him as a prep. He was highly progressive last year and it would be nice to think he has not stopped
improving”, said the new trainer, Herman Brown.
