Green Destiny back in form at York as he lands the Strensall Stakes on 19 August
The 4-year-old bay gelding, Green Destiny, came back to Knavesmire with fire in his belly to keep his unbeaten record going at the race track. He kept his 100 percent record going at the track by holding off Tazahum in the Group 3 Sky Bet Mobile Strensall
Stakes at York on 19 August, 2011.
Sent off at 11 to 4 co-favourite under jockey Kieren Fallon for trainer William Haggas, the pair took a while to get going, as they dwelt after the break and got held up at the back of the lot.
Kieren Fallon held off the pace and maneuvered at the back of the rear smoothly going headway after taking advantage of small openings while there were 3 furlongs more to run.
The runners started giving out space, and there was more room to breathe. Green Destiny assumed the role of the tracker for the time being so, the gelding could muster up some pace and momentum going into the final furlong.
Still tracked leaders with 2 furlongs to go, while the strong urging galvanized Green Destiny to take over the leasers, which he did as he was ridden to lead over 1 furlong out.
The pair kept on well under pressure and did not fell away, and completed the 1 mile 1 furlong on a ground labeled good to soft in the final furlong, winning the race by 1 ¼ lengths over their closest rival Tazahum.
This was his third win of the season, but the son of Marju, out of Mubkera by Nashwan, Green Destiny disappointed in his last start where he was cut back to a mile at Goodwood on 29 July, 2011, in the Totesport Mile Heritage Handicap.
Green Destiny fell away to finish 16th in a field of 19 horses. Under Adam Beschizza, Green Destiny did not get a clear opening in the 1 mile event as he got hampered entering in the final furlong.
He had no chance in the end and eased in the final 100 yards, finishing 13 ½ lengths behind the winner Boom and Bust.
