A greencard holder girl SS marries a man NN in her home country Italy but when she comes back to US, she does not show her marriage to USCIS at her US citizenship interview. The reason was that her husband was bankrupt in Italy and she was afraid that USCIS may decline her Naturalization application due to this so she lied about her marital status.

Her husband is never been to US. Now what will happen to her citizenship? Secondly, as she is SINGLE in US records so can she divorce her man in Italy and marry in US?

  1. If the truth comes out about her lie she will lose her citizenship and more than likely be deported for the deceive of immigration officers. But i don't know if it is going to be ever revealed. As i understood there is no common computer base between USA and Italy. So in principe they should never know about her marrital status.

I would try and ask for annulment of marriage in Italy - if it happens it would be like it never took place.

Then getting the man on K-1 visa to the US and get married there.

But it looks quite simple on the paper - don't know how it would be in reality. I would contact the good lawer in this situation.
