  1. if there is stones in the bottom of your tank that's what is prob causing it i suggest getting rid of them and putting a real live plant in it

  2. You could try getting a suckerfish, they eat algae. But first, I'd try getting a magnetic tank cleaner. You can buy them from Aquarium shops, they are little brushes. You put one part of the brush in the tank, then the other part outside, you move the outside part, and it sticks to the inside tank part, and when you wiggle it, it will clean off algae. However, I havent seen or heard of black and green. But if the filter, or brush doesn't help, I recommend seeking advice from an aquarium shop.

  3. The black slime is dead green algae.  It's actually a good thing that it's growing in your tank, because it lets you know your water's healthy (green algae is a good sign, red algae is a bad sign).

I would suggest buying some tank cleaner fish.  This website has a good chart, just pick one that fits in with the fish currently in your tank:  http://www.fishpondinfo.com/plants/algae...

Also, if your fishtank sits in direct sunlight, that can be a major contributing factor to explosive algae growth.  Try shading your tank or moving it to a less sunny area.

  4. Slime algae won't be eaten by any kind of "suckerfish".

There are several algaes that manafest themselves like this, also the dreaded blue-green algae or cyanobacteria (not a true algae, takes over, and h**l to get rid of!)

Here's a very scientific site on algaes:

    Http://www.lenntech.com/eutrophication-w... scroll down to cyanobacteria

Have a look at this site too:

Do not use chemicals to rid yourself of algae, it does more harm than good.

  5. Well I would get a 2-3 cories to help clean the tank and they are very fun and active to watch

  6. Not good algae spreads fast, what you need to buy is Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Algae Fix which stops and kill algae. You can algae products at your local pet store or petco or petsmart.

  7. they have medicine that take the slime away or it could be a problem with your filter cartraige
