  1. Yeah, you can eat them, but will they taste good without being cooked? I doubt it! I eat raw veggies off my plants, and green tomatoes to my mouth aren't very grand unless they are fried.. If they are somewhat large, you only will need to wait maybe 3-5 days until they are red... if they are small, maybe a bit more than a week.

  2. You can, but they are much more tasty when you cut them into disks, dip them in egg and then bread crumbs with parsley, tarragon, garlic salt and pepper and fry them up in some oil.  I've been in some mediterranean countries where they coat them in olive oil and champagne vinegar, salt and pepper them, put a thin slice of pancetta and feta cheese on top of them as a raw salad.  But I still think the green raw tomatoes don't taste nearly as delicious as red.

  3. heat from the mid-day sun will help to ripen them...if they are in pots try moving them near a brick wall that will radiate heat.

  4. They are very bland, and have a tangy taste.

In the south, green tomatos are popular battered in flour or cornmeal with seasoning, and fried in oil.

  5. Slice the tomatoes and bread them with cornmeal.  Then, fry them in oil.  They are very good this way.

  6. you can make chutney with them

  7. Just be patient. Your tomatoes will start to go whitish, then yellow, then orange then red, and will be worth the wait, though it sometimes seems to take forever.

Although there are recipes for green tomatoes, they are MUCH better ripe than green. Keep the green tomato recipes for the fruit that don't ripen when the cold weather comes.

  8. Yeah havent you every heard of fried green tomatoes?! :) They are so good! YUM

  9. Green tomatoes can be placed in a brown paper bag and stored in a dark, cool place. They will ripen nicely this way. Just don't forget about them!
