Greenbrier Classic: Billy Hurley III set for another start on the PGA Tour
Billy Hurley III, a rookie on the PGA Tour, is ready to make another start on the PGA Tour, as he is preparing to participate in the Greenbrier Classic, scheduled to start from Thursday, July 5, 2012.
Among the first 16 events that he played on the PGA Tour this year, he missed the cuts 12 times, with the best finish coming at the Valero Texas Open, where he tied for the 32nd position.
“I had a very poor start to the year, Hurley said. “Nobody really wants to start that way. And almost put myself behind an eight ball, so to speak, just having to play really well to finish out the year”.
Thereafter, he made two consecutive cuts while finishing tied for the 47th and the 4th position in the Travelers Championship and AT&T National, respectively.
He now looks confident to make another good start when he will tee off at Old White TPC, in White Sulphur Springs. It will also be his first appearance in the history of the tournament.
“Last week was a great week, you know, my career best finish on the PGA Tour, fun to do that at home in front of a lot of friends and family,” he said.
“So, you know, it was really a fun week and now it sort of seems like Thursday is coming pretty fast and I'm trying to get my body ready to play and do it again”.
According to the golf commentators, Hurley can leave a good impression by bringing consistency in his game.
Last week, he played brilliantly at Congressional, especially in the third round, when he managed to score a five-under par score.
Therefore, he needs to keep the momentum going and bring some improvements in his driving technique.
He had a great week at the Congressional Country Club with his putter. On the other hand, his game off the tee was questionable, as he failed to bring accuracy in his drives.
Therefore, a little extra effort can make him a strong contender at Old White TPC, which is a relatively easier course compared to Congressional.
