Greenlough Ball storms to victory in the 277m Dash Dup Open Race
Greenlough Ball won the 277 metres the Grade OR January Dash Dup at Henlow on Thursday, January 12, 2012. His victory earned him a cash prize of £150.
The I E Walker trained dog had to be quick right from the start, as the distance to cover was not much.
He clocked a time of 17.28 seconds, after popping out from trap number two. His starting price was 3 to 1.
Greenlough Ball is the son of Ballymac Maeve out of Greenlough Dingo, and was born in July, 2009.
The second place went to Merills Maverick, who showed very good speed, but ran out of gas in the end.
He fell 0.04 seconds adrift of the race winner, completing the total distance in 17.32 seconds.
Despite Merills Maverick’s inability to win the race, his trainer, S A Corrigan, would have been delighted with the result, as his hound was the least favourite to finish in the top two, with a starting price of 12 to 1.
The second placed dog was born in September 2006, and he is the son of Dinny Joe out of Pacific Breeze.
He was the oldest of the lot, and used all the experience to his advantage by finishing in the top two.
Third place went to Stress Nomoor, trained by C A Grasso. He had a starting price of 4 to 1, and covered the race distance in 17.39 seconds, after going in from trap number one.
Stress Nomoor was born in November 2007, to Droopys Scholes out of Westmead Nicole.
The race favourite, Mountleader Rory, finished fourth just by a neck’s distance. He had a starting price of 5 to 2, and entered the race from trap number four, but did not have the speed to match the top three runners.
The F Axford trained hound was born in May, 2009 to Droopys Maldini out of Mountleader Mela.
Kinda Close completed the race in 17.50 seconds, after popping out from trap number five. She had a good starting price of 3 to 1, but failed to challenge the front runners in the end, leaving her trainer, M A Wallis dejected.
The fifth placed b***h is the daughter of Goldstar Lee-World Lark and was born in July, 2008.
P J Crawley’s trained b***h, Ritas Sapphire, completed the order of finish. She clocked a time of 17.60 seconds, after entering from trap number six. Her starting price was 7 to 1.
