Greg Biffle fancies his chances at Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway – NASCAR news
Greg Biffle fancies his chances of taking the chequered flag at the Hollywood Casino 400 at the Kansas Speedway after qualifying in pole position for the race.
The qualifying for the race took place on Friday, October 7, 2011.
Talking about his qualifying lap, Biffle said that he was surprised that the car made it to pole position. He pointed to the fact that in practice, he was in 35th position and the car was way behind the rest of the drivers. He lauded the team
for working so well on the car and the changes they made to the car to bring it up to speed.
Biffle said that the team was unfortunate not to have won more races this season. He was also aware of the fact that the team generally performed well on mile-and-a-half tracks and felt that this was a place where the team was capable of winning a race.
Biffle is the defending champion in this race, having won the race here in 2010. Biffle said that winning is his top-most priority and the fact that he is the defending champion gives him more motivation to win the race again.
“There is one thing you can do when you don’t make the Chase and that is win races. They are not going to talk about you if you finish second, third, fourth or fifth,” said Biffle. “If you win, they are forced to talk about you when you aren’t in the Chase.”
Biffle is not in the Chase this year but teammate Carl Edwards is, and he is starting in second position. Biffle said that he expected Edwards to have a fast car and may take the lead himself but if he needed the lead point at some stage, Biffle will let
him pass.
“If it comes down to him needing to lead a lap at some point in the race for a point and we had a little room on the rest of the field then certainly I would do it for any of my teammates when it comes down to that,” he said.
