Greg Chappell backs David Warner’s place in Australian Test team – Cricket News Update
Former Australian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 batsman is well equipped to fire in the longest version of the sport.
Warner’s dream of playing 5-day cricket may come true this week, as he will join the Test crew as replacement for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SE-Marsh-c2470, who is suffering from a back injury.
Marsh could not come out into the field on the second day of the Newlands Test, and batted at number 10 instead of his regular one-down spot. The Aussie batting stalwarts displayed a lacklustre show in the opening game, as they were shot out for 47 in the
second innings.
Chappell feels that Warner’s inclusion will be a breath of fresh air for the national team, as the aggressive batsman is in tremendous touch these days.
"I think with Davey Warner, he can bat anywhere in the top six, so find him a spot. I don't want to discuss who he might replace, but he's got a great deal of skill. He's a brilliant fielder and also bowls some leg spin, there's a lot of assets there that
history proves to be very good,” Chappell told The Sun-Herald.
Warner has made a good impression with the bat in both ODI and T20 versions of the game. In the recent One-Day series against the Proteas, he amassed 104 runs including a brilliant half-century.
Despite the fact that Warner has been enjoying great form at the moment, his selection in the final playing XI is still in question, as another talented left-hander, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362’s boots at Johannesburg.
The chairman of Oz national selectors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Mark-Jefferson-Hilditch-c44498, is also expecting a fantastic show by Warner, hoping that he will make the best of the chance.
"David has been in tremendous form for New South Wales in all forms of the game... We are certain that should the opportunity present itself he will be ready to perform at Test level," said Hilditch who will quit the post after Australia’s ongoing tour to
