Former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, threw a spear at former coach Greg Chappell on Monday, December 19, 2011 by terming the Aussie as ‘mad’ regarding his coaching abilities.
Ganguly and Chappell were on adverse terms as Chappell did not see Ganguly’s place in the national team. The Aussie wanted most of the aging players in the Indian team to be excluded from the national side and replaced by younger players.
Speaking on Chappell’s coaching abilities, the former Indian opener said, “The people should realise that the problem lies with him, he is the one making mistakes. A person can be wrong once but if he commits the same mistake again and loses his job for that, then that man to me is mad."
According to news from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
However, Ganguly is least impressed and believes that Chappell’s presence in the Australian dressing room will serve them well as the former Australian will most likely do more harm than good.
“He has been a selector and also the head of their academy (Australian Centre of Excellence in Brisbane) and he has been thrown out from there as well. When he came to India, it was said that his Australian mindset won't work here but he couldn't work in the Australian set up as well," Ganguly said.
Ganguly revealed that Chappell cannot face opposition and for him ihttp://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472 is his way or the highway, which doesn’t work in cricket and that is the reason why he was a failure in every coaching stint that ever came his way.
The former Indian captain also criticised http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229, who was the Indian skipper during Chappell’s reign for not standing up to the Australian.
Ganguly revealed that Dravid would not question Chappell’s authority as he wanted everything to be peaceful in the dressing room and was not ready to revolt against the coach.
Ganguly was, however, instrument in getting Chappell is job in 2005, but the Australian then returned the favour by asking for Ganguly’s removal from the national team.
