Greg Dobbs, Logan Morrison and Giancarlo Stanton injured for Miami Marlins - MLB Update
Hardly had they launched from their stick what the club has been expecting of them that Greg Dobbs, Logan Morrison and Giancarlo Stanton have met with an injury. Although it is unclear whether these will be severe enough to keep them out of season, certainly
they have triggered discussion about possible replacements.
Dobbs was all set to play today’s game against Boston Red Sox before it turned out that he will be missing it owing to left hamstring he is suffering from. Manager Ozzie Guillen was willing to send him to the play but he declined and then he was happy to
see him sitting out for one or more matches until he is fit.
"I'd rather him to miss a couple of more days," Guillen said. "A couple of days is not going to kill him.”
Another worry for the Marlins is Stanton who is struggling with his left wrist after being hit hard by a pitch and despite the fact his X-rays have come out negative, manager is reluctant to give him a go in next couple of games down the line. As a slugger
Stanton brings so much to the side that his absence will be felt seriously in Spring Training games.
"I always worry about people getting hit there," Guillen said. "We're not going to push him to be swinging for no reason."
One more player to the list of injuries reported in Marlins is Morrison, who has yet to make appearance in Grapefruit League. Troubled by his right knee soreness, he is not going to play tomorrow against Atlanta Braves.
Manager Guillen is in no hurry to have these players on the park at the earliest thinking that he has to give them maximum time before the start of season so that their chances for playing in the regular season are increased.
While management can afford to see these players off for Spring Training games, it will be a big blow if they are missing important games during the season.
"If they're not ready, somebody will be," Guillen said. "If you're not ready, I know nine guys are going to be on the field. I hope it will be them. That's what we're shooting for.”
As Marlins have lost today 3-5 to Boston Red Sox after being unable to generate few valuable hits, they will be looking forward to their sluggers and batters get back to the mix as early as possible.
