Greg Jackson reveals he would remain neutral when GSP takes on Condit – UFC News
Not very often is a trainer faced with a situation where two of his best fighters clash each other. Unfortunately, Greg Jackson is right now in the spot, where has to make a choice between welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit. However,
Jackson reveals that he is not at all stressed over the situation and that he will not choose a side, instead he would be neutral during the fight.
According to Jackson, it is not about who is in the corner but it is about the who the better fighter is. While trying to cover up the issue, Jackson said that it would not matter whether he is in GSP’s corner or Condit’s corner, as he knows both fighters
will give their best to make the match highly interesting.
Even GSP agrees with Jackson’s decision but asserts that he definitely would love his trainer in his corner.
“I like to have Greg in my corner but to tell you the truth, we both have the same problem, because he (Condit) won't have it and I won't have it as well,” said GSP during UFC 154 press conference.
“Corner doesn't really matter in a fight, it does a little bit, but even if the Pope would be in my corner or my grandmother, the truth is when you come back after a round you're exhausted. You have maybe 20 seconds that a person can tell you what to do
to change your strategy or help you out. You have a window of 20 seconds, the rest of the time you're trying to recuperate and get back to your breath.”
GSP is making his comeback after almost eighteen months. His recurring injuries have impeded him from participating in UFC events on a regular. However, now, he believes things have settled down for him and that he is in a better position to cement his legacy.
It should be noted here that GSP is already being eyed by Anderson Silva’s camp for a possible super-bout next year. If GSP is able to defeat Condit, he will be heading towards a fight against middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
