Greg Monroe, Rodney Stuckey shine as Detroit Pistons make short work of Charlotte Bobcats 109 – 94 – NBA Recap
The Detroit Pistons haven’t had the best NBA season so far but things are looking up for the young side. On Wednesday they took another step in the right direction with an easy 109 – 94 win over the abysmal Charlotte Bobcats at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Detroit’s young centre Greg Monroe put in a dominant shift on the night and gave more credence to his billing as one of the better prospects in the league. Monroe registered a massive double-double with 20 rebounds and 19 points to his name.
Rodney Stuckey was another Detroit star who found his groove, scoring game high 29 points. Rookie Brandon Knight had 20 points to go along with 5 assists while Tayshaun Prince scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards.
It was another sorry night for the Bobcats, who were led by 17 points from Corey Maggette. D.J. Augustin had 8 points and 10 assists while D.J. White came off the bench for 15.
The Bobcats were in the game during the first quarter, when they matched the home side well and kept the scores close. At the end of the segment, Charlotte were behind by just one at 24 – 23.
The second period however proved to be disastrous for the visitors, who simply couldn’t handle a spirited attack from the Pistons. Detroit opened the frame with a 9 – 2 burst that put them in control. A 9 – 0 run then put them up by double digits at 49 –
35. At half time, Detroit were firmly in command at 58 – 43.
Charlotte came out with an attacking mindset after the break. The offense clicked for the Bobcats and they were able to pile on 26 points in the 3rd segment. The Pistons however matched them all the way, meaning that the gap between the sides
was never really in danger and at the end of the stanza the score was 83 – 69 to Detroit.
The final quarter was pretty much a formality. Both sides just went through the motions, with the Bobcats never able to threaten. When the clock ran out, the score was 109 – 94.
