Greg Monroe all praise for Andre Drummond after training with him – NBA News
Greg Monroe, the Detroit Pistons centre, recently talked to the Detroit Free Press and a portion of his interview was uploaded onto Pistons.com.
In the interview, Monroe talked about the Pistons first round draft pick this summer, Andre Drummond and was all praise for the rookie after training with him over the past few weeks.
“He had a great week out there. He was definitely a beast on the boards. He was working hard, getting a lot of second shots for our team, separating himself from other guys. He worked hard the whole week,” said Monroe.
Monroe, one of the rising players on the Pistons roster and a part of the team core, has been training in Las Vegas ahead of training camp with the Pistons which will commence end of September or early October. Drummond has been
training with Monroe and has shown a great ability to rebound on both ends of the floor. The two big men will be critical to the Pistons front court in the future and Monroe wanted a heads up with Drummond, hence decided to bring him along on his training.
Drummond was acquired by the Pistons with their 9th overall pick in the Draft in June. While in college, the rookie was one of the most promising players on the scene and looked to be a top pick in the NBA Draft.
He was ranked as the #1 player in the 2012 class by ESPN, and many NBA scouts saw him being picked up with the number 2 pick behind unanimous number 1 pick Anthony Davis. However vary of the immaturity in his game and attitude,
many team ultimately decided not to pick him and the big landed at Detroit.
Drummond is a beast on the D, however he needs to develop his offensive game and learn the skill sets outmatch the powerful bigs around the league. He could be a great selection for the Pistons and along with Monroe, has the opportunity
of forming one of the fiercest and dominating front courts in the NBA.
