Greg Norman infuriated over board’s decision: Medalist Golf Club
Greg Norman expressed his annoyance and took a few bites out of the Club he made with John Dye, the Medalist Golf Club.
The Australian golf pioneer, also known as the Shark, has taken severe action against the South Florida Club after some amendments were proposed to the layout.
There was news that the club hired Bobby Weed to help restore the design of Greg Norman and Peter Dye, the design was originally put forth by the duo.
This stance by the hiring committee of the club was highly disturbing for the legendary Australian golfer.
He was angered by the decision, and has said that his and Dye's name should be scraped off the course, also that his memorabilia should be returned.
Norman said, “It’s really a slap in the face at the end of the day, it’s the end of a legacy by the board doing what the board is doing now. It hurts a lot to tell the truth. It’s a shame”.
Norman is one of the most accomplished Australian golfers to have ever played the sport. He turned professional way back in 1976.
The 57-year-old played on the European Tour, PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. He has eighty eight professional titles to his name.
The two time major championship title winner has won twenty titles on the PGA Tour. With fourteen European Tour titles to his name, Norman is the 15th highest title winner of the tour.
He won his two major titles at The Open Championship. The first one came in 1986 when he defeated the Englishman, Gordon J. Brand with a five stroke margin.
His second major championship title came in 1993. He defeated another Englishman, Nick Faldo, with a margin of two strokes and claimed the title.
The decorated Australian golfer has achieved numerous awards in his amazing career.
He has won the Professional Golf Association Order of Merit six times. In addition to that, he has also been the winner of the European Tour Order of Merit in 1982.
Norman showed his disappointment over the decision made by the Medalist Golf Clun board and has decided to part ways.
