Greg Norman says Aaron Baddeley can play in the President’s Cup team
Captain of the International Team for the President’s Cup 2011, Greg Norman believes that Aaron Baddeley has strong chances of qualifying for the biennial event.
In an e-mail sent to the Professional Golf Association Tour, the 56-year-old Norman said, “Aaron has been very successful on tough, demanding, and difficult tracks with his previous victories and this victory is no different, and one that is long overdue.
He now catapults himself into a strong position to secure a spot on this year's International Presidents Cup Team. I know he would be a very valuable asset to the team.”
Baddeley spoke to the press on the eve of his victory at the Riviera Country Club which ended his four-year trophy drought. He expressed his desire to compete in the President’s Cup, which takes place once every two years like the Ryder Cup. The two-teams
are from the United States of America and an International Team sans Europe.
He said that his ultimate goal for the 2011 season was to be selected in the International Team. The Aussie rejoined his old swing coach, Dale Lynch in 2009 and it made a huge impact on his game. Baddeley has worked with Lynch as an amateur as well and it
was under his guidance that he won the 1999 Australian Open.
Currently, Baddeley is working on his short game which requires accuracy. Commenting about his game, the Aussie told the press, “At times it's been frustrating but that end product ... we knew what we were working towards, and that was the key. I feel like
my game is at a different level where I am not trying to keep working on stuff. I'm really just trying to go out there and play golf.”
Aaron is on the right track according to the captain of the International Team for the President’s Cup 2011. He has won a title after a gap of four years and can prove really useful for the team if he is selected.
