Greg O’Mahony satisfied with the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament 2010
The PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament underwent its third round of its first stage on the 29th of October 2010. The 3rd round of the first stage witnessed Greg O’Mahony achieving an 18 under on Friday.
Saturday’s play observed the Tequesta resident achieve a 2 shot lead over its fellow competitor, Michael Schachner, at the PGA Golf Club. The event will undergo its second stage on the 16th of November which will include the lowest 23
scores as well as ties.
O’Mahony played a remarkable round with a 4-under-par on Saturday where he attained an eagle at the second hole thus achieving a good start. His first hole was a three putt while his last six holes was a collection of four birdies.
According to O’Mahony, “the game had been quite a ride”.
After the tournament Greg O’Mahony said that the basic thing that placed him on the top position was his experience from last year. O’Mahony failed to advance from the first stage of the Qualifying school with only a two shot deficit last
year and thus put his last year’s knowledge to good use.
The O’Mahony we saw last year has been quite different from this year’s O’Mahony at the PGA golf club. According to rumours, this golfer is completely different from the one who played last year at the Q-school rounds. The year 2010 sees
a more confident golfer who can play with almost every type of golfer at the field.
With O’Mahony finishing with an 18 under, Schachner followed intently and carded a 16 under par on Friday. The golfer from Libertyville, Ill. Played the Sunday’s game with a 3-under-par following O’Mahony.
Critics say that although Schachner wasn’t able to play the game he is used to, but he still managed to grab a good score. According to Schachner, he has been playing well lately and feels good about his game due to his scoring from the
previous two or three days.
When inquired about the last round strategy, O’Mahony replied that he has the same strategy and will try to play it the same way the first round was played. He seemed excited and said that he has his hopes up to win the last round.
At the Wanamaker Course, O’Mahony scored a one round score of 67 with a 5 under par. He stood with a 14-under after playing 54 holes with the R3 played. Other than O’Mahony and Schachner, Justin Peters and Alexandre Rocha scored a 12 under
and achieved a tie. Peter, who is a resident of Stuart, finished the second round with a 2 and played seven birdies at first and then 2 bogeys at the last round. He played a 22 total for the event.
According to the overall leader board statistics, Gregory O’Mahony from Tequesta carded a total score of 202 with a minus 14. He carded his best score at the second round of the event with a 66 where the first and third round was carded
