Grega Zemlja prevails over Uladzimir Ignatik in the round two – Eckental Challenger 2012 CH
Top seeded, Grega Zemlja, trounced the Belarusian player, Uladzimir Ignatik, in the second round with a three-set thriller at the Bauer Watertechnology Cup 2012 held the indoor courts of Eckental, Germany. The Slovenian challenger
consolidated his victory, 6-7(4), 7-6(7), 7-5 in two hours and 37 minutes approximately.
The 26-year-old Slovenian professional commenced the contest with a very sloppy pace and the Belarusian junior took hold of the opportunity to engraved a 2-love lead. Nonetheless, he was unable to prolong his rhythm and levelled
down the score line to 2-all by the end of the fourth game. As the fight between the two players seemed endless, Ignatik clinched the lead after a tie-breaker round 7-6(4) score line.
In the second set, the higher-ranked Slovenian professional secured the front line but faced a tough competition. He battled hard to sustain his aggressive pace but was unable to secure his required breakthrough. He was not capable
to cash on his competitors serve even once and ended the equalizer with a 6-6 score line. The Slovenian right-hander took a flying start and forcefully battled jolt down a 7-6(7) score.
In the final set, the 22-year-old Belarusian native completely lost his charm initially. He managed to break his competitor's serve in the fourth game and marked a 3-1 lead. However, his opponent regained his momentum in order
to achieve his relevant break in the seventh game and started to even-out the score line. The Slovenian senior nudged up, pocketing away the last two games and stole the set with a 7-5 victory.
Ranked 51st in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Zemlja, thundered onto his opponent with 18 aces and double faulted five times, which majorly covered for his average initial serve accuracy of 51. In comparison to this Ignatik
committed 14 double faults with nine aces in the match.
The two contenders faced each other at the French Open in the year 2010 in the initial qualifying rounds. Zemlja consolidated his straight set win 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-2 after an entertaining three set match on the clay courts of Paris.
