Gregg Ontiveros creates magic on golf course
It is nothing but the routine cycle of nature. Even legendary players get replaced by others who are better than them.
Interestingly, it is their predecessors who help them reach the position they once acquired. Davenport's Gregg Ontiveros is one such example.
He might have lost the Pebble Beach event but he has definitely not lost on his spirits of transferring his legacy.
With the assistance and expertise of his buddy and trainer Tiger Woods, Gregg was able to do something Woods could not. He managed to win a tournament.
The 17 handicap, Ontiveros allied with the 25-year-old pro Brian Harman to share the championship he was able to secure at the Pebble Beach event.
It turned out to be a magical opportunity for the 49-year-old golfer and CEO of Milan Based Company Group O to tee it effectively at Montreal Peninsula.
"The whole thing was just magical," Ontiveros said. "I call it the miracle on grass".
It is also important to mention here that his company Group O is a key sponsor for the event and because of this financial assistance he was able to make it well at the event.
He further added that he had no real intent of participating in the event unless he was not invited to tee it off by the chairman of AT&T.
After missing the 2010 event, he finally decided to play in the 2011 event, partnering with John Deere Classic champion J.P. Hayes.
The partnership for Ontiveros this time materialised. This can be vindicated from the fact that his team was three strokes behind the team of Padraig Harrington and his partner Irish businessman J.P. McManus.
However, with the help their effective teeing skills, Ontiveros was able to bounce back into the game on a leading position.
He further said that he certainly has no issues in sharing the trophy with a junior. According to experts, the game played by both of these players was quite balanced.
If Harman teed it off badly, Ontiveros was there to compensate for the loss.
With the help of master expertise from Tiger Woods, the partnership was able to materialise upon the skills of their guru.
