Gregoriy Tarasevich pockets Men’s 200m backstroke gold: Day four – YMCA National Championship
Gregoriy Tarasevich of Orlando-FL pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on fourth day of the 2012 YMCA National Long Course Championship at Georgia Institute of Technology Aquatics Center on Thursday, July 26.
The 16-year-old Tarasevich lived up to the hopes of his fans in the four-lap backstroke discipline as he spoiled the party of his challengers and proved his mettle for the crown of the event.
With his astonishing pace, Tarasevich stayed four body lengths faster from his subsequent rival and hit the finishing wall for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 01.01 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 4.48 seconds faster from Nic Graesser of Upper Main Line-PA, who settled on the finishing blockade as second position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 05.49 seconds.
Third position of the race was secured by Kyle Patnode of West Cook-IL, who was one and a half body length apart from his former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 07.03 seconds.
Similarly, Patnode was followed by Eric Kim of Wyckoff-NJ, who was only 0.14 seconds away from overpowering the bronze medallist and ended fourth in the discipline with the timing of 2 minutes and 07.17 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Dylan Sali of Somerset Valley NJ, who stayed 0.14 seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.31 seconds.
The 17-year-old Sali was trailed by Tristan Sanders of Suncoast-FL, who remained 0.08 seconds slower and completed his swim in sixth position by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 07.39 seconds.
Sanders was traced by Robert Borowicz of Middle Tyger-SC, who stayed 1.15 seconds behind and ended seventh in the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 08.54 seconds.
Eighth position of the 200m discipline was obtained by Garrett Procunier of Gr. Flint-MI, who stayed nearly half body length apart and submitted an effort of 2 minutes and 09.19 seconds.
In addition, Tarasevich was contented with his feat in the 200m event and told that he would try to defend his title at the upcoming meets.
