Gregory Bourdy displays a horrid performance in the third round
The French Professional golfer, Gregory Bourdy, displayed a highly unpredictable game on the third day of the Alfred Dunhill Championship and it might cost him the championship title after leading the tournament for a good two days.
Bourdy was jittery throughout the day, he had problems attacking the ball and making the green on most of the occasions.
There is as such no positive aspect of the Frenchman’s performance of the third round that is worth mentioning.
When it was time to raise the expectations and expand the lead he had for the first two days, Bourdy, faltered and got himself into a mess that he will not be able to make up for as the last round of the tournament approaches.
Bourdy was going fine on the front-nine. There was nothing to worry about, as he made three birdies. The three birdies came on the 2nd 4th and the 6th hole.
The Frenchman started the proceedings of his third round with a bogey. When a player cards a bogey at the start of the day, there are high chances of the golfer to lose confidence.
Bourdy set a perfect example of this speculation. He made a total of five bogeys during his third round.
Other than the first hole, he recorded bogeys on the 10th, 12th, 14th and 18th hole.
While the Frenchman was getting his clothes dirty in the pool of mud that he got himself into, the South African professional golfer, Charl Schwartzel rose up to the occasion and showed class.
His seemingly invincible streak is more likely to pay off as the tournament enters into the last round.
The Frenchman was tied at the first place with Schwartzel after the second round, but as the third day came to a close, the South African had gained a 10-shot lead over his rival.
There are slim chances for Bourdy to threaten the South African now. With such a massive lead, it will be a walk in the park for player of Schwartzel’s stature to cement his position on the top.
However, being the unpredictable game that golf is, anything can be expected.
