Gregory Bourdy on top of the leaderboard through the halfway mark at Open de Espana: Wrap-up Last-part

Overnight leader Shaun Micheel had a terrible day on the course on Friday when he fell for a sloppy five-over, 77, losing his hard-earned lead altogether.
In fact his second round performance presented the catastrophic scenario that the American might miss the chance to qualify for the third round and miss the halfway cut.
Thanks to his solid performance on the opening day, the 43-year-old Micheel has managed to stay alive in the latest European Tour event so far.
The 2003 PGA Championship winner stepped on the course on the second day hoping to capitalise on his gains the previous day.
He fell for a double-bogey five on the par- three, 11th but regained his composure from the very next hole, pulling in three consecutive birdies.
He fell for two more bogeys on the back nine before making the turn.
With a birdie on the first hole on the front nine, Micheel expected to continue with his rampage for the rest of the holes but fell for a terrible double-bogey six on par-four, 4th.
He was never able to recover from the two double-bogeys which constantly haunted him for the remaining holes. He went into a bogey spree on the three closing holes, losing all his points of the previous day.
Some of the renowned golfers on the tour this year of the likes of Alvaro Quiros, Rhys Davies, Joost Luiten, George Coetzee, Colin Montgomerie, Michael Hoey, Paul Lawrie, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Tom Lewis, David Horsey, and many others failed to make the halfway
cut in the event.
Montgomerie, one of the legendary English golfers on the tour, barely made it into the field after his lacklustre performance over the years.
He only broke headlines in 2010 Ryder Cup when he participated in the event as the non-playing Captain.
His consecutive sloppy performances probably mark the end of his reign on the mainstream golf and will soon be switching over to European Seniors Tour in a short while.
The third round of the Open de Espana is currently underway at the scenic Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.
The total purse of the event is €2,000,000 and most of the top-ranked players are hoping to pull in strong finishes to increase their chances of a selection for the 12-member European team in the upcoming Ryder Cup in October.
