Gregory Bourdy on top of the leaderboard through the halfway mark at Open de Espana: Wrap-up Part-2

The current Irish Open champion had a tough day on the course where he lingered on to his short game, in order to grab the halfway lead in the event.
Playing with a new Belly Putter, Dyson utilised the advantage of his expertise on the newly acquired long putter and pulled in a 12-footer for a stunning eagle at par-five, 9th.
He said, "It appeared to bobble and I started walking, but it kept going and dropped”.
Dyson is perhaps the only player in the event who has a long putter in his bag and is following the tradition set by the PGA Tour players to use the controversial putter on the greens.
He beaconed towards his weak short game which convinced him to use the Belly Putter on the greens.
He added, “I switched because I've just not been holing out well. It's harder to get the pace, but I start it on the right line more consistently”.
Like Bourdy, Dyson also opened up his front nine with a birdie on the opening hole and dropped a shot at par-four, 4th.
He remained level-par for the rest of the holes on the front and pulled out his long putter for the eagle at the ninth.
He made the turn brimming with confidence with his eagle on the front and pulled in two more birdies before dropping yet another shot on the closing hole of the day.
Italian prodigy, Matteo Manassero was another of the better players in the event who surged into contention with consecutive two-under, 70 in the opening rounds.
He is now resting at four-under on the aggregate, trailing the leader by two shots.
He said, “It wasn’t an easy day and I’m happy because I didn’t really play that well but managed to score. Today I took the right side of the draw. Early morning we just had a little breeze and it’s certainly going to be more difficult in the afternoon”.
Manassero admitted that he wasn’t playing with his full confidence at the start of the round and pulled himself together to play well at the closing holes in the second round.
