Not impressed with his former president’s knowledge on the word ‘b*****d’ the former France international has criticised the Lyon supremo’s attitude
After the controversy surrounding the anti-Saint-Etienne songs performed by Olympique Lyonnais players with their fans after winning the Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president Jean-Michel Aulas took the rivalry between the two cities and the clubs
to a whole different level by saying that slurs aimed at the city should not be taken so harshly.
While talking to RMC, the Lyon supremo said that the way journalists have spoken about this situation is really surprising. One verse of the anti-Etienne song was “Saint-Etienne est un pays de bâtards”. In English, this verse means “Saint-Etienne is a city
of b******s”.
Naturally such choice of celebrations caused a lot of controversy. More fuel to the fire was added when several Lyon players, especially Clement Grenier, Maxime Gonalons, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 joined in the act with the rest of the fans.
However, Aulas said that it is preposterous to ask his players to apologise for using a derogatory word.
“I took my dictionary, to find the definition of a b*****d. b*****d is a child from an unmarried couple. It’s not an insult.”
Certainly, monsieur Aulas has been using the wrong dictionary and his former employee, Gregory Coupet is not impressed with how the president has dealt with the situation.
The Frenchman has played for both great rivals and is the right person to take an opinion from regarding this situation.
The former France goalkeeper is not impressed with Aulas’ choice of words. The 39-year-old says that by saying that his players and coach should not say sorry to Saint-Etienne, Aulas has made the controversy perennial.
“What makes this controversy perennial is that Jean-Michel Aulas does not want his coach or his players to apologize. What is unfortunate is his attitude. Go look up the definition of the word b*****d in the dictionary to find the definition. I have great
respect for Monsieur Aulas but I cannot agree with that.”
In such a situation, one expects a man of Aulas’ standing to pacify the situation rather than taking it in the wrong direction. Though Les Verts and Les Gones are not to play eachother this season, the repercussions of recent events will be witnessed when
the two take on eachother next season.
