The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international surprisingly made a move to Parc des Princes in the final days of the summer transfer window and has tipped the capital outfit to be a huge success in the coming years
Gregory van der Wiel arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in the last days of the summer transfer window and is definitely looking like a good buy. For Netherlands, the 24-year-old is an undisputed starter down the right side of defence. Although new Oranje manager,
Louis Van Gaal has not called the former Ajax Amsterdam star for the national team’s opening game of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, it seems that Van der Wiel will be and undisputed starter for some time.
The Amsterdam-born right-back has already 35 national caps to his name and will bring a new dimension to PSG’s game-play.
PSG had to pay Ajax just 6 million euros for the services of the Dutchman. So far, not many French news agencies have been able to get a hold of the player. However, while talking to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, the 24-year-old spoke of the reasons
behind his arrival at the Ile club.
The youngster feels that his new side has a very exciting project at hand and said that the club can definitely becoming as big as La Liga giants, Real Madrid. On a personal note, Van der Wiel revealed that he was looking for a new challenge and wanted to
do something unique.
“Paris Saint-Germain can become as big a club as Real Madrid. They want to bring in the best, win the Ligue 1 and be competitive in Europe. I was immediately attracted by PSG’s approach. I am very happy to be part of this project. They are very ambitious
and want to win trophies. I was looking for a new challenge and we can achieve something unique here. And of course, it’s great to play with a world class player like Ibrahimovic.”
Far from the safe zone of the place where he spent all his life, Van der Wiel knows that being at PSG won’t be an easy ride as he will have to fight for a place in the starting XI with club captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christophe-Jallet-c9179.
