The Dutch international accepts Paris Saint-Germain criticism over his form saying he is not happy with himself, following PSG’s recent three-match winless streak in Ligue 1.
Gregory Van der Wiel has declared that he accepts the criticism over his performances with Paris Saint-Germain. He went on to blame the fact that he is still adapting to the Ligue 1 and it will take him a little more time to settle down at the Parc des Princes.
But he is keen to return back to his top form with the club.
The Dutch international was brought from Ajax during the last transfer window, and since then developed to be an essential member of Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded squad. The player seems to adapt well to his genuine role as a right-back, and continues to
play at that position at PSG.
Despite his ability and potential to be a world class player, Van der Wiel is finding it hard to perform well since his arrival from Amsterdam, and is getting frustrated at not performing well. The player went on to state that:
“This is not my real level, not the one I usually show.”
During his five-year spell at Ajax, the Dutchman had appeared in 130 games for the Amsterdam-based clubs, and managed to score 12 goals during his tenure with the Dutch giants. He is well known for his attacking flair, and ability to sweep in the right flank
to become a threat to his opponents.
The former Ajax player went on defending his ability to perform, while criticizing his current performance, saying:
“I can and should do more on the pitch, including in an attacking sense.”
The right-back needs to gain his form as quickly as he can, as he is facing stiff comepition within for a starting place. If the Dutchman still continues to struggle with his performance, he might loose his starting place to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christophe-Jallet-c9179, who is currently
injured, in the near future.
Paris Saint-Germain are currently sitting on the third spot in the Championnat, following a series of winless matches against AS Saint-Etienne, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montpellier-HSC-c39945 and Stade Rennais. While Les Parisiens seek for a victory in their Champions League game against
Dynamo Kiev, they need to be prepared for the Ligue 1 ecncounter against Troyes on the coming weekend.
