Greig Hutcheon remains in contention at the Titleist PGA Play Offs
Banchory Golf Club’s Greig Hutcheon carded a four-under par 67, in the second round of the weather-shortened Titleist PGA Play Offs, to take the third position on the leaderboard, on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
The tournament, which is being staged at the Antalya Golf Club’s PGA Sultan Course, is offering 10 entries into the next year’s BMW PGA Championship.
In addition to that, the top-three players to finish the tournament will also get the chance of representing the Great Britain and Ireland in the 2013 PGA Cup.
Therefore, Hutcheon appears to be moving on the right track, as he entered the final round with just a three-stroke deficit against the leader Richard Wallis, who accumulated a seven-under par two-round score.
The Scott got off to a decent start, as he carded two birdies on the front nine and reach the turn in two-under.
He then replicated his front-nine performance, by adding another two shots to his scorecard on the back nine.
Talking to the reporters after completing his second round, he expressed his disappointment in missing a number of birdie opportunities that he created.
"I was pleased with my 67. I by no means played perfectly, did some scrambling and had a couple of unlucky breaks but holed a nice 20 footer at the last for birdie so I left the course cheery,” he said.
In the afternoon, he started his third-round campaign and carded a one-over par score through six holes, before the inclement weather forced the game to be suspended.
He now plans to bring consistency in his game, in a bid to make a final charge on the leaderboard. He only has 12 holes to play, as the tournament officials announced to shorten the event to 54 holes.
“This afternoon's round I've been hitting it a little bit left and right and haven't quite had it going where I've wanted to so am one over through six which is no disaster,” he said. “I've got maybe 12 holes to play tomorrow and try and get as much out
of it as I can because I really want a spot in the PGA Cup team”.
