Gresini gives time to let Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini gain confidence – MotoGP news
Fausto Gresini, manager of San Carlo Honda Gresini team says that it was of vital importance for Alvaro Bautista to finish the United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca to regain his confidence after he crashed during the warm up round.
Gresini said that their team is suffering since the last few grands prix and they needed to find out a way to help them regain the form with more than half the season to go.
He said, “We have been suffering in the last few races and we need to help him find more confidence in the front of the bike. It is important we stay calm and work hard to achieve this because there is still a long way to go in this championship.”
Furthermore, he said that it was the result of the crash that he dropped to the 8th place because during the practice sessions, it felt as they had that pace to perform better during the race and they would have had the chance to fight for the points.
“Of course the crash this morning didn't help because yesterday it looked like we had the pace to have a good race,” he said.
He said that Honda is facing hard times at present but they should be patient and improve their efforts considering their targets and proceed in a planned manner.
Half of the season has passed and still Gresini believes that it is possible that Honda can improve its place among the leaders of the championship.
Currently Honda holds a 5th place in the championship with 97 points. They are behind Ducati with 166 points.
The next round of the MotoGP is to take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a fortnight from now. Let’s see how does the Honda team regroup themselves ahead of the second race in the American continent.
The first practice session takes place Friday, August 17, 2012.
