  1. I love the name Greta! It sounds so beautiful and elegant! I'm not really a fan of Gretel honestly, it just makes me think of Hansel and Gretel. Good luck and Congrats!

  2. I prefer Gretel.  Yes, it makes me think of Hansel and Gretel, but Greta makes me think of a dog for some reason.  I think Gretel is very cute!

  3. I like them both.

Gretel makes me think of the little girl in the fairy tale and the youngest child in "The Sound of Music."  While it's cute, I think Greta is a bit more grown up and could prove more wearable.  Greta fits the two-syllable ends-in-a pattern we see with so many names that are popular today, like Emma, Ava, Mia, Sarah, Ella, and Anna.  The name makes me think of Greta Garbo, the old Hollywood star.  Old Hollywood names are "in" now, too, with choices like Ava, Harlow, and Audrey cropping up fairly often.  I think Greta will be fairly well-received, considering her similarity to other popular names.

  4. I like both.  You know- Gretel is means "little Gretchen".  All of those names are pretty.  Also, they are a little unusual, but common enough that a vast majority of people know how to spell and pronounce the names.

  5. Neither

  6. I do not like either name.  what comes to mind is hansel and gretal the old childhood story.

  7. I actually quite like both of them.

They are solid, classic names that age well.

I also like the name Liesel.

    Good luck :)

  8. ew, neither. reminds me of old women.

  9. Greta! You never hear Greta, I love it! I wouldn't do Gretel, it reminds me of Hansel and Gretel.

  10. greta

  11. I love Greta! Gretel just doesn't sound pretty. I also like the name Gretchen which is kinda similar.

  12. I say It's a go for Greta, It sounds very unique and pretty!!

  13. Greta is ok.  It sounds european.  If you have to choose one of those, then Greta is the obvious choice.  It is ok.  I wouldn't personally choose it.  I think it is cute for a little girl, but as an adult it seems just ok.

I hate Gretel.  it is like the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, so that is just not a good name at all.

  14. Gretel Natasha

  15. Neither your kids would be the biggest losers

  16. Neither really, they make me think of The Sound of Music/an old kids story
