Grey Danube and Harry Trotter to collide in the Hen & Stag Packages At Dundalk Stadium Handicap at Dundalk
Dundalk will become home for the Hen & Stag Packages At Dundalk Stadium Handicap over six furlongs on Wednesday, 18th April. The purse for the race is set at €6,900 and it has assembled a line-up of fourteen three-year-olds. The entries are fairly
practiced and quite a few have already raced at Dundalk and have won too.
Grey Danube, Verglas’ three-year-old grey gelding out of mare, Redrightreturning, struck his seasonal debut at Dundalk.
He won the www.Thetote.Com 3YO Handicap on 30th March over six furlongs. Riding with F. Roche, Grey Danube led the 7/2 favourite runner up of the race, Ferryview Place, by a length. Joining the leading pair on the other end of the wire was Ultra
Steps.
This race was his third attempt at Dundalk but it was the first time that he struck a victory there. He finished eighth on the line-up of fourteen in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO Maiden on 28th October over five furlongs.
The race was won by the 11/10 favourite of the race, Wave.
His very first race at Dundalk was in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO Median Auction Maiden (Division I) on 7th October over seven furlongs. The race was won by Caprella while settling as the runner up was the 13/8 favourite
of the race, That’s Plenty.
Grey Danube concluded the race fifth on the line-up of fourteen.
Today will be his fourth race at Dundalk and the second outing of the new season. He has very high chances of striking a second success today.
Another note worthy entry for the race is Harry Trotter, Kodiac’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Defined Feature. His last four races were at Dundalk with the last one being the 2012 seasonal debut and win. The other three resulted in a fifth position
and two second scores.
Harry Trotter won the Dundalk 3YO Maiden on 13th January over six furlongs by leading the runner up of the race, Atticus Finch, by just half a length. The winner was paired up with Fergal Lynch and was sent as the 4/9 favourite.
He has more exposure of the track and that too recently so the race will not prove to be a piece of cake for Grey Danube.
